Go from a new account to your child’s first personalized lesson, one clear step at a time.

Start with one child. Start with one subject. Today’s goal is one ready lesson. The setup uses a few straightforward questions about your child, with guidance at every step.

Create the learner account or sign in if you already have an account.

What you will finish: a learner login, a confirmed starting point, a first course, and a lesson your child can open.

Take Five Minutes to See What You Are Setting Up

The short introduction shows the experience after setup: where your child will begin, how learning is organized, and what the platform is working toward. Before You Begin

Have three things ready: an email address you can open now, a phone number you can access, and a password you will remember. Every step uses plain language. You can make one decision at a time and begin before the rest of the school year is planned.

1. Create the Learner Account

This is the account where your child will learn. Use contact information you control so you can manage the login and receive important account messages.

1. Set this up on the device your child will use. If your child has their own Google, Apple, or other device account, sign in to that account before you begin.
2. Open the account creation page and choose Student.
3. Enter the learner’s name and an email address and phone number that you can check.
4. Create a password with at least eight characters. Write it down somewhere safe if that helps.

You will know this step is complete when: you can sign in and see the welcome conversation for your child.

2. Tell the Mentor About Your Child

The welcome conversation is a simple way to introduce your child. Answer in everyday language while the mentor learns enough to build a path that feels like it belongs to them.

1. Share your child’s age and current grade level.
2. Describe what they care about: hobbies, favorite topics, questions they keep asking, or things they love making.
3. Mention what currently feels easy, frustrating, boring, intimidating, or unfinished.
4. Share any goals or learning preferences you already know. “We are still figuring that out” is a perfectly useful answer.

You will know this step is complete when: the mentor has enough context to help you choose a first subject and starting point.

Your answers are saved as you go, so you can stop and return if you need to.

3. Choose the First Subject

Build one subject today. The goal is to get one useful learning path ready, understand the rhythm, and add more from there.

1. Choose the subject your child should begin with.
2. For the most precise starting point, use the placement quiz. It helps identify what your child already knows and what should come next.
3. For a faster setup, choose a starting point from your child’s grade level.
4. Review the suggested level before you confirm it. Treat the recommendation as a starting point that you can review with your knowledge of your child.

You will know this step is complete when: you have confirmed the subject and the level where the first course should begin.

4. Let the Curriculum Build

TheHomeschoolingCompany now turns the information you provided into an actual course: a sequence of lessons, projects, and concepts built around your child’s starting point.

1. Keep the curriculum-generation page open while the first course is being prepared.
2. When the course is ready, open the learner dashboard.
3. Choose the first lesson. After that, the Continue Lesson button will show your child where to pick up next time.

You will know this step is complete when: the first lesson opens. Your child can begin learning; setup is finished.

One Real Lesson Is Enough

Your first-day finish line is one open lesson. Once both of you understand the rhythm, the next subject and the next school day will feel much simpler.

Optional: Add a Separate Parent View Later

Keep the first setup simple: the learner account builds the course and opens the first lesson. A separate Parent account gives you your own place to review the daily plan, progress, and records.

Set up the Parent account on a different device or in a separate browser profile or device account from the learner account. This keeps the parent and learner sign-ins separate.

When you are ready, the learner can generate a one-time invite code. Create a Parent account, then enter that code on the Parent page.

If You Are Stuck, the Instructions Need to Be Clearer

Email andrew@TheHomeschoolingCompany.com directly. Describe what you see in everyday language. A simple message such as “I am on step 2 and need help choosing what comes next” is enough to start.

Include the numbered step where you stopped and the words you see on the screen. Add a screenshot if taking one is easy for you. For your security, never send your password by email.

Your family’s subjects, lessons, and numbers will be different. These examples are here so you can recognize the main places you and your child will use after setup.
