Important distinctionFramework alignment does not itself mean College Board authorization or exam registration.

A portfolio needs a line of inquiry, not a pile of assignments.

This course needs a sustained studio or performance practice without turning the year into a loose collection of projects. We provide the sequence, critique, revision points, and evidence that keep the work moving.

The student needs technical range, but the portfolio also has to reveal intent, risk, revision, and a developing visual voice.

We keep early trials, critique notes, revisions, and finished work together so the portfolio shows the decisions behind it—not just practice hours.

What the Course Covers

What Your Student Will Actually Make

A Course-Defining Project

Return to one observed subject across scale, memory, distortion, and different surfaces until the work becomes an argument rather than an exercise.

How the Week Works

The week alternates short observational studies, one longer drawing, critique, revision, and portfolio photography.

Check the Prerequisites Before You Commit

A student should already draw regularly and be willing to keep weak experiments because they document how stronger work emerged.

Before the year starts, confirm how the required work and assessment access fit the current process. Use College Board's homeschool provider guidance and homeschool exam FAQ.

Questions Parents Ask About Drawing

How does our AP Drawing course work?

Our Advanced Drawing course combines direct teaching, guided practice, mentor feedback, and visible evidence. The project is organized around this kind of work: Return to one observed subject across scale, memory, distortion, and different surfaces until the work becomes an argument rather than an exercise. Aristotle teaches the lessons and gives feedback while there is still time to improve the work. Our critique checkpoints happen while there is still time to rethink the work, not after the portfolio or performance is finished.

How is Advanced Drawing personalized?

Our starting-point check looks for the prerequisites behind line and mark and light and value before the pace picks up. We use that evidence to give more practice where the work shows confusion and move ahead when the student is ready. The goal is not to make Drawing easier; it is to keep an avoidable gap from blocking the advanced work.

Who teaches the course and gives feedback?

Our weekly plan follows this rhythm: The week alternates short observational studies, one longer drawing, critique, revision, and portfolio photography. Aristotle stays with the student inside that work, explaining a difficult passage or problem, asking for the reasoning behind an answer, checking understanding, and responding to submissions. That keeps teaching and feedback inside the course instead of making the parent the daily lecturer or grader.

What does the parent dashboard show?

The platform keeps the learning path, completed lessons, scores, mentor feedback, and the work behind the grade visible, including studies that make technical growth visible; critique notes and materially different revisions; a selected portfolio with concise written evidence. Weekly reports provide a quick check-in, while the parent dashboard keeps attendance, assessments, and finished work available for a closer look.

What starting point does Drawing need?

How do AP exam or portfolio logistics work for homeschoolers?

AP Drawing uses a digital portfolio submission rather than a sit-down exam. Homeschool families need an AP coordinator who can provide the current portfolio access and submission process; course enrollment here does not create that College Board access.

Can this course appear as “AP Drawing” on a transcript?

Framework alignment and AP Course Audit authorization are different things. We publicly title this course Advanced Drawing. Parents issue the homeschool transcript, but the AP name should only be used when the course itself has completed the College Board AP Course Audit. We keep the completed work, feedback, scores, and course record together so you can document the course accurately.
